We recognize the environmental challenges linked to manufacturing and distribution, and we are committed to taking concrete steps toward reducing our ecological footprint while leading by example within our industry.

We are strategically steering our business toward the future, by developing smart fasteners and fixing solutions for electric vehicles, industrial products, insulation systems, electric, sanitary and ventilation installations, and ventilated façades. Every new product is designed with end-of-life recyclability in mind, because we believe sustainability must be engineered from the very start.

Using phosphate-free steel wire​

Use of 100% phosphate-free steel wire in our Spanish factory reduces indirect CO₂ emissions by 83 kg per ton compared to standard steel wire.

Both our Spanish and Chinese factories are equipped with solar panels, boosting self-consumed renewable energy. In 2024, renewable energy accounted for 17% of CELO S.A.’s and 22% of CELO Suzhou’s consumption, reducing dependence on external electricity.

We operate in alignment with the European regulation REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals). This ensures the management of chemicals in our products and processes, safeguarding human health and the environment as required by European Union standards.

Air pollution control system upgraded

Our upgraded air pollution control system for heading and heat treatment processes in CELO Suzhou ensures full compliance with national standards. These systems effectively reduce emissions and support a safer, greener workplace.

ISO14001
Environmental Management Certification

Our CELO Suzhou facility in China has achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification, verifying that its environmental management activities for cold forging shaped fasteners meet recognized international standards.

Roadmap


Climate risk and opportunity assessment

By 2027, we will complete a comprehensive climate risk assessment, identifying operational and supply chain vulnerabilities, and integrating adaptive strategies for resilience.


GHG emissions tracking & decarbonization plan

By early 2026, CELO will expand direct (Scope 1 and 2) carbon footprint calculations globally, set strategic targets, and invest further in renewable energy—including enhanced solar generation and certified green electricity purchases.


Value chain emissions management (scope 3)

By 2027, we will evaluate and develop reduction plans for indirect emissions, focusing on raw material sourcing, supplier partnerships, and logistics decarbonization—favoring local, low-emission providers and green steel procurement.


Science-based targets​

Our commitment is to define and align company-wide reduction targets with the Science Based Targets initiative by 2027, with the global ambition of limiting temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.


Clean innovation

Investing in new product lines for electric vehicles, renewable energy, and high-efficiency construction, we ensure our growth supports sustainability—aligned with the EU Taxonomy for sustainable activities.


Appropriate management of contaminant substances​

Formalize a unified, global policy governing the management and disposal of substances of concern by 2027. Aiming for consistent handling, tracking, and disposal across all geographies, aligned with regulations like REACH and EPA standards.


Transforming production through circular principles

Formalize an internal standard for the use of circular materials by 2026. Offering innovative solutions to reduce resource usage and enhance operational efficiency.

Transparency & Tracking

Progress is measured and shared via key performance indicators, including:

  • Emissions data (Scope 1, 2, and 3).

  • Renewable energy consumption rates.

  • Waste recovery and recycling statistics.

  • Supplier and logistics sustainability KPIs.
